Frequently asked questions
What is the process like on website designs/ redesigns?
The process varies from client to client, but essentially I ask for inspiration in the form of links or photos (I recommend Pinterest or Etsy). One I have that inspiration and the color scheme you'd like to use (if changing it), I'll go through from the (re)designing the home page, get your approval, then continue on to the additional pages.
What's your creative process?
I ask for inspiration in the form of a Pinterest board or collage, whichever works, or an email with all forms of inspiration you wish to have. I will later take those and create four options for you and present four mood boards/ branding kits that have the font type used, color scheme, and logo option for you to choose from. Once we agree on the logo, font, and colors, I combine that final one together and you are free to use it for your website, branding material, or whatever you see fit. I commonly use it for the website afterwards since that's a more common packe.
What programs do you use?
Right now, I work primarily out of Canva Premium. Due to the insane prices of Adobe and their rates for essentially renting Photoshop, I am conserving my dollar to what works best for me and my clients.
What hosting services do you recommend?
Right now, I'm hosted with Hostinger. They're new on the market, but I like the company, the website builder, the ease of having WordPress whenever I'm ready, and the response rate. Depending on your field and level of expertise, and what features you're looking for, I highly recommend sites like Squarespace and Wix for ease of access and it's drag and drop website builder. WordPress sites are always a high recommendation for me but only self-hosted WordPress sites (not WordPress.com).
Who do you work with primarily?
Right now, I work primarily with non-profit organizations and therapist (solo practices and groups). I have found a particular niche within these two subsets but am open to other smaller businesses.
What can I really do with a logo/ branding kit?
A common misconception is that logos are just pictures to represent your business but they can be used across a wide array of places such as merchandise (cups, shirts, etc.), the footer of your email, your profile picture on social media, and letterheads. If you ever need a size adjustment or a certain file type for your logo, please reach out to me.
Do I own everything when you're finished?
Yes. You own your website, your logos, your branding kit, everything. All I ever do with your website and branding is use it in my portfolio for others to use as examples.
Do you use AI?
I am against generative AI through and through. For transparency, I do use assistive AI to help with content such as SEO descriptions or on a webpage when I don't have the material provided to me. But as far as logos, the website itself, and any design elements used on sites, I do not use AI by any means.
What's the window of time to ask for changes?
If we are finished with everything and you'd like to make changes, you have two weeks to reach out to me and I will take care of those changes. If we are still editing and collaborating, you have time while I'm working at any time to ask for a change but I will usually send an email for you to review the site and ask for changes you'd like to make at that time.
Is there a cost if I want to add pages or make changes later?
If done within the two weeks of me finishing, no. But if it's outside of that time frame, yes it is an additional $30 for large changes or additional changes.
Do you maintain the website for me?
No, I do not maintain your website by any means unless you are hosted by me. I do routine (monthly) maintenance on all websites under my hosting plan.
Do you offer refunds if I'm not satisfied with the end result?
Due to the digital nature of my work, I cannot offer refunds. Time and labor has gone into the work and while I will be very sad to know that you're not satisfied, the most I can offer is 15% off of your final price (the cost after the deposit).
I have a tight budget, can I still hire you?
We can always discuss payment plans or reduced prices, just reach out to me to explain the situation and your budget and I will adjust accordingly.
Who will you not work with?
There are no real fields that I am against working for. I will say that large companies are beyond my level of expertise simply because of what those sites require. I also will not work with those hosted by GoDaddy. I have had many struggles with GoDaddy and I do not want to fight with their support, their website structure, or the other things they refuse to supply their clients.
